Reading initiative includes prize drawing for visit to the nation's capital

Second Lady Usha Vance has opened the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, encouraging all K-8 students to take part in reading adventures this summer. Joining the challenge is easy – students just need to read 12 books of their choice between June 1 and Sept. 5, tracking their progress on the provided reading and reflection log. Books can be read independently or with an adult.

All participants who successfully complete the challenge will receive a personalized certificate and a small prize. Those who finish the challenge will also be entered into a drawing for the chance to visit the nation’s capital with a chaperone.
